For more than 10 years, I led college student group in a local church, training them with Continuing Witness Training produced by Southern Baptist Convention. Every summer and winter, I went outreach with students. In summer, I led a student team of about a hundred on a several day mission trip and preached the gospel to five hundred to six hundred people in small churches in remote areas. As a result, about four hundred accepted Jesus. And in winter, I went a mission trip with dozens of deacons to help four small churches, preaching gospel to three hundred people. Every time 70 to 80 percent of those who listened to the gospel came to Jesus. After the mission trip, I used to give testimony in the church I went to, giving thanks to God for his work and for giving us victory in spiritual warfare. But I felt frustrated when I came to know that only 10 percent of those who had accepted Jesus were still going to church. As the same problem of church follow-up repeated every year, I felt we need something.

After I received liver transplant in 1992, I sold the electronics company I had run and determined to give my life to Jesus and spend the rest of my life for Jesus, preaching the gospel. I saw great opportunity in Christian book service and established Serosarang. Serosarang first published Questions of Life book and then other Alpha resources as a Korean Alpha national office. More than 80% people on Alpha course have become Christians regardless of their age, financial status, educational background and cultural difference and as I saw that, my frustration turned into joy.

Almost every week, we run an Alpha conference across the nation. Sometimes, I feel tired but words can not express how joyful I am when I see churches grow and congregation become healthy and happy thanks to Alpha course.

I agree with Nicky Gumbel when he says ¡®I don¡¯t think Alpha is a perfect tool for evangelism.¡¯ Local churches have their own effective program for evangelism. Alpha is a great tool to be used as a follow-up course after a mission event. If non-Christians who attended a mission event are invited and come on Alpha course, the result will be tremendous. Everyday I thank God for using me in fulfilling the Great Command of Jesus with Alpha course.
I invite you to share my joy with Alpha.
